GHIN Update – Start Posting Scores March 1

Starting Friday, March 1, if you have an OGA/GHIN account, it’s time to start posting your scores in the GHIN app!

I know, our LOLGC season doesn’t start until April … but that’s the beauty of GHIN, you can post your score from anywhere (which is important for you Snowbirds!).

Now, unless you are posting a round from Charbonneau, none of the rounds will be marked as a LOLGC “home” course. They are marked as “away.” That’s okay, because the scores still add up to form your index! And posting, really should be done the same day of play.

So remember … starting THIS FRIDAY, March 1, if you have the OGA/GHIN account start posting your scores day of play!

A Little Background on GHIN …

OGA/GHIN Membership – New for 2024

By joining the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) for $41, a player is given a GHIN number to use to log into the GHIN app and post scores from ALL courses that the member plays. You may be a member of more than one club, but your GHIN number never changes. Joining OGA is an “optional,” and highly encouraged, add-on to your annual LOLGC dues. It is optional this season, but next season it will be required.

The GHIN app is a players portal to the World Handicap System, and it calculates an “index” for each player based on their recorded scores and adjusted for the difficulty of the course. This “index” is then used to determine the player's specific handicap for a specific course. The GHIN app is free.

With an OGA/GHIN membership, on a LOLGC day of play, you will swap score cards with a member in your foursome (because scores must be attested to be counted), but you don’t turn the card in (unless it’s a tournament) – you are responsible to input your score into the GHIN app.

If you are a competitive golfer and want to participate in club tournaments (Summer and Fall), an OGA/GHIN membership is required (as it automatically calculates handicaps based on your “home” course). If, however, you are a more relaxed golf player and just want to play in the scrambles, then you can take a pass on it this year.

Our website has some additional information on how to post your score in the GHIN app. Read all about it HERE!
